![]() ![]() It works fine while in windows.įailing that, if I must, I will get an internal floppy to install but looking at the front of this 4600 tower, there's not a viewable opening for a 3-1/2 floppy drive. So my question, is there any way that a USB floppy device can be setup to run outside of windows. I tried going to the command prompt and changing from C to A drive, and that doesn't work either. I have a floppy I wish to use, Memory Diagnostics, but when inserting it in the USB Drive, and rebooting, it doesn't recognize the floppy and continues to bootup normally. Also, under:īoot Sequence (1) HDD - C: and (2) IDE CDROM device. HDD Sequence (1) System BIOS boot device and (2) USB Device (not installed). My problem is that I want to use this drive prior to windows booting up. So I purchased an external USB2.0 floppy drive. I ordered this Dell 4600 2/3 months ago and failed to notice that I wasn't getting a floppy drive with it.
